The Challenge

Alchemy's challenge was building out their engineering team. Having recieved $80 Million in Series B funding, they needed to scale their engineering team incredibly quickly. Their goal was to triple their engineering team in less than a year and there was “no way [Alchemy] could do that alone,” said Rob Boyle, Product Manager at Alchemy. “With such a big raise like that, the faster you can convert capital into people the more the effects of having those people will compound,” Boyle continued, emphasizing the importance of fast scaling. “We intend to keep our hiring bar very high, so we knew we were going to be very picky.” With no in-house recruiters and having set a high bar and specifics for team fit, Alchemy turned to Recruiting from Scratch’s services.

The Solution

Recruiting from Scratch partnered with Alchemy in 2019 to begin recruiting for their engineering, sales, and marketing team. Since our team became the main source of talent for Alchemy, we have placed several product managers and engineers, including Rob Boyle himself who worked at Facebook right before.

Recruiting from Scratch helps across everything from sourcing to running candidates through the pipeline, working with Alchemy on screening and helping place several engineers on their infrastructure and backend teams. Since the beginning of 2021, we have worked with the Alchemy team to help place 6 software engineers onto the Alchemy team.

Recruiting from Scratch and Alchemy continue to work together on several roles in engineering including Infrastructure Engineers, DevOps, Full Stack Engineers, Smart Contract and Product Managers.

The Results

Alchemy's team has grown quickly, from an engineering team of 8 to 14. “We’ve hired a bunch of very excellent people who have been shepherded through the process by Recruiting from Scratch. We would not have landed them had we not had Recruiting from Scratch on board," Boyle said.

Alchemy recently raised $80 million in a Series B round of funding. As of now, in just 8 months, the company went from public launch to a $505 million valuation. They are the world leader in powering the majority of the NFT industry amounting to over $30 billion in transactions for tens of millions of users all over the world
